Owners
Tony
Valk
is one of the two owners of Evergreen of
Johnson City and focuses his attention towards
retail activities, advertising, vendor management,
product purchases, accounting, and much more. Being
a working owner, you'll often find Tony right in the
store assisting customers with their many needs and
customizing their experiences. Tony’s extensive
horticultural knowledge and experience in the
gardening industry helps to provide our customers
with a professional service.
Tony resides in Kingsport, TN with his wife, Karen,
and their 3
children.
Michael
Valk partners with his brother, Tony, in
the ownership of Evergreen of Johnson City and plays
an important role in Evergreen’s landscape
department. Michael also assists with various retail
services at Evergreen such as accounting, product
management, and purchaser of Evergreen’s Tree &
Shrub product line.
Like his brother, Tony, Michael is all hands on with
many of the services provided to Evergreen’s
customers. He is one of the main landscape designers
and organizes projects
being completed by
Evergreen’s landscape department.
Michael resides in Gray, TN with his wife, Debbie,
and his two daughters.
Garden
Center Managers
Fred Kidd is
Evergreen's store manager assisting our retail
customers with a wide range of horticultural needs
focusing on store products to fit just about every
type of gardening need.
Fred's broad range of knowledge allows him to be
most helpful to our customers many needs. Many say
that Fred has an answer for just about anything.
Fred has been working within Evergreen's store
department for over 10 years now and is an avid
gardener himself residing with his family in
Greeneville, TN.
Jen Larsen
is our assistant store
manager, and loves to help her customers find
solutions to their gardening problems. She has
helped to create one of the most diverse selections
of garden gifts in our area. She loves finding
unique, affordable decor for the home and garden.
Jen and her family live in Johnson City, and she has
been with us since 1997.
Sheila Mathes
is Evergreen's greenhouse manager and can be easily
found working within the greenhouse range where
you'll find one of the largest and most impressive
displays of houseplants, annuals, perennials, and
vegetables.
Sheila, also being one of Evergreen's
expert gardeners, assists in both managing personnel
and merchandise within Evergreen's stunning
greenhouses. The only problem is you'll have to walk
fast to catch up with Sheila. She's well know for
her determination and hard work.
Tim Simcox
is Evergreen's Tree & Shrub
Manager and performs the management tasks
surrounding Evergreen's wide array of the areas
largest supply and variety of trees and shrubs in
our area. Tim also manages Evergreen of JC's Water
Garden department.
Tim horticultural skills and his love
of the plants and water gardening is clearly exposed
thru his service to Evergreen of JC's customers.
Daniel Fink
is Evergreen's Tree & Shrub
Assistant Manager and assists in the management of
the sales and display of Evergreen of JC's trees &
shrubs. Daniel has been a part of the Evergreen team
since 2006 and strives to continually provide
excellent service to Evergreen's customers.
Landscape Managers & Designers
Eric
Kraus currently serves as Evergreen's
landscape production manager and provides many
functions in managing Evergreen's landscape
production work force and equipment.
Eric has been with Evergreen for over 10 years and
has had over 10 years experience in the landscape
industry before coming to Evergreen in 1994 from the
Raleigh, NC area. Eric's experience has been
an asset to both Evergreen and it's customers. Eric
has also managed part time design and sales when
needed during the busy season.
Patrick Sutherland,
one of Evergreen's landscape designers, is
another one of Evergreen's longest employed members
having been with us since 1985. Patrick has always
been employed within Evergreen's landscaping
department and came to Evergreen with approximately
10 years of landscaping experience from the middle
TN area.
Patrick's extensive experience in landscaping for
over 30 years allows him to be extremely effective
during his designing services. Patrick specializes
in many aspects of landscape design & installation
which includes water
gardens, unique stone work, patios and walks, low
voltage lighting, and
much more.
Dennis
Bryer,
Evergreen of JC's landscape maintenance
specialists,
has an extensive level of experience in the
horticultural and landscaping markets. Being
involved in the horticultural industry for over 15
years, Dennis has gained a diverse level of
experience to include a wide array of plants, but
also a landscape features such as water gardens,
terracing, patios, walkways, and much more.
Dennis focuses on specialized maintenance procedures
and services for accounts managed by Evergreen
including weed, disease, & insect control services.
Dennis resides in Elizabethton with his wife and 5
children.
Accounting
Manager & Office Assistants
Allison Peterson
is Evergreen's Accounting Manager. Allison has
assisted Evergreen in customizing many aspects of
our accounting and office management needs.
Allison, a native of Mississippi, has been employed
at Evergreen for over 10 years and has proven to be
a valuable asset to Evergreen's management team.
Whether by intention or not, Allison has become
quite the gardener tending to her home's landscape
and water garden. Allison, her husband Mark, and two
sons reside in the Johnson City area.
Jessica Claman
is Evergreen's Office Manager and performs a
wide range of office management duties that assist
Evergreen's management team with it's product and
customer care. Jessica often manages incoming phone
calls and looks forward to assisting Evergreen's
customer in any way possible.
Jessica resides in Kingsport with her husband Noah.
